![]() ![]() There’s quite a bit of hand sewing, but I did the sleeves by machine, using the “elephant trunks kissing” method. ![]() It isn’t difficult– you sew the upper back pieces together to the mark, then baste the rest of the seam, press as directed and then sew the underlay to the seam allowances I did use various sewing books to help out with this one and to get some visuals of attaching the back pleat underlay. The jacket’s lining is attached in front but hangs loose in the back. The magazine version used a covered snap. This is definitely a look that has to be styled correctly to avoid the M word. Then he used the dreaded M word: matronly My husband commented that the jacket is a bit Sherlock Holmes. Also, in the magazine the model wore hers open, which is probably how I will wear mine. This is not the most flattering style for me, but when I move around in it the front opens, my top is visible, and I like the way that looks.
